Adidas are really spoiling Ajax.
Last year we raved about their green and orange away shirt that proved templated designs don’t have to be dull when the colour scheme is vibrant and individual to the club.
Fast forward a little over a year later, and Adidas are at it again for Ajax’s 2020-21 away kit.
Twisting the same pattern as you’ll find on Scotland’s current away shirt, Ajax have been gifted a kit so good it reminds us of the white stars on denim masterpiece worn by the USA in 1994.
The familiarity of the pattern, somewhere between Holland ’88 and 1990s diamond cut shirts from Chelsea and Bradford City; is brought to life by that stonewashed colourway and the red accents to the collar and badge.
This is an exceptional new shirt from Ajax and Adidas, and proof if needed that templated designs, when done right, can be a work of art.
