The Rojiblanco stripes of Atlético Madrid have received a blood-soaked makeover for the 2020-21 season.
Following the trend for hand-painted football shirt designs, Atléti’s traditional red and white stripes have been given a distorted edge by Nike.

The blurry effect gives the famous deep red Atlético stripes a finish which looks as though they’ve been crudely daubed onto the shirt in blood.
Given the “heart on their sleeves” work ethic of Diego Simeone’s men, perhaps that’s not entirely unintentional!
The trim of the shirt including the button-up collar and taping down the sides, comes in Atléti’s regular third colour of navy blue which continues to the shorts, as the full kit is completed with red socks.

Rojiblancos’ midfielder and youth team graduate Saúl Ñiguez praised the cut of their new cloth;
“This kit has a very classic look to it and it’s nice to have the full collar back for the first time in a while.”
Overall, the new look is sharp, modern and exciting enough to separate it from Nike’s previous offerings, without upsetting too many of Los Colchoneros‘ fans.
There’s no messing around here, and we bloody love this!
