It may not be the most technically innovative or fashion conscious design of the past seven days, but as football shirts go, few will mean more to the fans who wear them than this one.
Football shirts should connect with the stories of the club they are designed for, so we were delighted to see Hibernian launch this very special third shirt.

Hibs’ brand new jersey from Joma, was created in conjunction with The Proclaimers and sees lyrics from their tear-jerking, life-affirming ballad, Sunshine On Leith, written and drawn throughout the sublimation of this yellow 3rd shirt with green details.
Twin brothers Charlie and Craig Reid were born in the Edinburgh port district of Leith and are lifelong fans of the Hibees.

The duo have sold more than 5 million albums worldwide and had international hits including Letter from America and I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles), but it’s the stirring Easter Road anthem Sunshine on Leith, guaranteed to leave a lump in your throat and stand the hairs on the back of your neck to attention; the brothers will be most proud of.
As part of Hibs’ partnership with The Proclaimers, 25% of the profits from shirt sales will be donated to Oxfam.
Greg McEwan, Commercial Director at Hibernian said:
“Sunshine On Leith is one of the most powerful songs in football and when a sold-out Easter Road perform it, it is very special, so we are delighted to have the lyrics throughout the kit.”
Charlie and Craig Reid said:
“We are very proud to be involved with the good work being done with Hibs’ new third strip. The club was founded with a charitable purpose and it’s great that Hibs carry this on in the present era.”

Joma offer clubs the opportunity to influence the style of their kits, so much of the creative credit for this design must go to Hibernian’s brand manager, Peter Burt.
Speaking to the Hibs’ website after the release of this summer’s home and away kits, he gave a fascinating insight into how much control the club had over the design process.
There’s a certain degree of snobbery about brands like Joma, but we’re sure that Hibs’ fans will be delighted with the trio of shirts the Spanish brand have served up for them this season.

Hibernian’s Sunshine on Leith shirt is available to pre-order from www.hiberniandirect.co.uk now, before going on general sale from Tuesday 5 October.
