In the first big kit release of 2020, Buenos Aires giants Boca Juniors have brought Adidas’ three stripes back to shoulders of their famous shirts.
After 26 years with Nike, Boca return to the brand with the three stripes, famously worn by Diego Maradona during his first spell at the club, in what’s believed to be a new 10 year contract.
Well received by Boca fans and kit connoisseurs alike, they’re already calling these the “kits of the decade.”

The deep blue and band of gold shirts have a rich history of their own and hold that awesome quality of recognition from 100 yards.
There’s no mistaking that iconic Boca Juniors kit, and Adidas have brought another set of beautiful shirts to La Bombonera.

As they did for Arsenal in 2019, Adidas have kept the home strip simple and faithful to the club tradition, whilst bringing an update to a classic retro style for the away kit.
The home shirt loosely follows the direction of Adidas’ Condivo 20 template with v-neck collar and modern cut, whilst the away number brings a big fat twist on the brand’s dynamic ribbon design of the late 80s and 90s.

There’s no broad artistic brush strokes here, instead, Adidas have produced a crowd-pleasing set of strips that certainly won’t offend Boca’s fervent fan base.
Boca are not the only big name expected to transfer kit provider this year, with Liverpool (confirmed as joining Nike) and Celtic (rumoured to be switching from New Balance to Adidas) among a number of clubs in the market for a lucrative new shirt deal.

There’s only so many times you can update a classic design like the world famous Boca Juniors jersey, and whilst Adidas have played a sensible hand here, we hope for something a little more expressive for the 2021 home shirts.
Everyone looks better in Adidas, so we look forward to seeing how this relationship develops over the next decade.
