Jamie Carragher has made the phenomenal gesture of donating a huge swathe of his football shirt collection to Liverpool based charity Kit It Out.
Kit It Out find new homes for old kits, giving them to families that may not be able to afford to give their children new ones of their own.
As football kits become more expensive for parents, the organisation are helping more kids to play the game.

This week, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher generously donated around sixty of the shirts he swapped during his 17 year career to the cause.
That absolute Aladdin’s cave of kit will be auctioned off to raise funds for the charity, but one in five will be put into a raffle for supporters making a donation to Fans Supporting Foodbanks in Liverpool.

Now just imagine for a moment those sixty shirts could speak and the tales they would tell.
Those treasures would tell stories of tussles with Francesco Totti and Franco Baresi, plenty of stories we could never print; and many, many memorable moments from Carra’s illustrious career with Liverpool and England.

The one-club-man notched up 737 appearances for the Reds and was capped 38 times by his country.
No Liverpool player has played more times in European competition than Carra, who won the Champions League and UEFA Cup as well as the FA Cup twice.

Away from his work as a pundit on Sky Sports, since retiring from Liverpool’s back four; Carragher has thrown himself into charity work, supporting a host of causes that help young and disadvantaged people on Merseyside.
Michelle, Paul and John from Kit It Out started the charity after making similar school uniform collections and we’re absolutely delighted to see the deserved credit and recognition that’s coming their way.

Funds raised from this gold mine of memorabilia will be split between Carragher’s 23 Foundation, Fans for Foodbanks and Kit It Out.
We just can’t help but feel that Jamie might miss a few of them!
