We didn’t want to unnecessarily curse a club by bestowing upon them the 13th Kit of the Week gong, so we’ve decided to pay tribute to a club and group of supporters who we hope have had their share of bad luck for the season.
Let’s take a moment to applaud the Burton Albion fans who endured a nightmare journey north for the Carabao Cup semi-finals only to see their side swept aside by Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
Having toppled Aston Villa, Burnley, Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough to reach the Carabao Cup semi-finals, League One outfit Burton Albion found Manchester City in irresistible form and succumbed to a 9-0 thrashing in the first leg at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night.

This came after many of the 3,000 travelling Brewers fans who made the journey to Manchester were delayed for several hours on the M6, with some only arriving for the latter stages of the game, already knowing the tie was beyond reach.
As football supporters we all have our “I was there moments,” those badges of honour that prove our dedication to the club we follow and many years from now, we hope that Albion fans can look back when toasting success and sing “we were here when we were shit.”

Before the season began, those fans demanded an input into the design process for this season’s kits and whilst the words “Burton” and “sartorial” will conjure up images of ill-fitting jumpers and budget suits for court appearances, the all yellow kit with black details produced by local-heroes TAG made Nigel Clough’s men look every bit as good as Borussia Dortmund.
That was until the referee blew his whistle of course . . .
What do you think of our Kit of the Week from Burton-on-Trent based firm TAG?
